Uyuni salt flat tour (3/3) – Landscapes from another planet

Just as amazing as the previous day ended, was the start of the third and ultimate day of our Uyuni salt flat trip.

The same hot springs from last night were hosting us for watching the most scenery sunrise, just behind the mountains at the edge of a large lagoon, again being home to beautiful Flamingos. A view I’ll never forget.

After pancake breakfast we made our way to the Chilean border to drop off the majority of our group, who continued their travels with another route. But this did not happen with yet other beautiful stops along the way. We got to see mountains with colorful layers, more deserts, mirrowing lakes and more lagoons. One being prettier than the other.

The rest of the day was dominated by a long drive back to Uyuni, with still enough stops to capture some shots of the area’s wild animals, mainly llamas 🙂 as well as endless landscapes and panoramas.

Our guide had one more surprise for us, when he led us to a hidden spot within an extensive canyon. We could not believe our eyes and all these different spots we saw during the 7 hours of driving on the last day of our tour.

I was so impressed, I seriously considered to extend our stay in Uyuni and immediately book another one day trip into the salt flats. Something we did not do though. Instead we booked our bus ticket to our next destination for the following day and celebrated our last night in Uyuni with delicious pizza and nice company!

Not yet knowing what travel struggles on one and new friends on the other hand would be awaiting us the next day. But this is written on a different page! Read more soon …
